Brescia

November 24, 2013

On Sunday we decided to go to church in Brescia.  This is where Antonella lives.  She is one of the study buddies I had during the 6 weeks I was learning some Italian.  Antonella would get up at 3 am in Italy to help me via Skype learn some Italian.  It was great to meet her and her family.  Her sacrifice to help me touched me deeply.  Her mother, Father, brother, sister and herself have all served full time missions for the church.

After church on the way home we decided to drive around Lago Isola.  It was a beautiful drive.

As we were driving north up the eastern side of the lake, following some very narrow roads we came to this blocked tunnel.  We had to turn around and drive on a different road.

At the northern end of the lake we stopped and took some pictures.

The road going south along the western side got very narrow.  Carved right into the mountain side.

A beautiful lake

Out in the distance is a mountain that raises up out of the lake.

Vigevano

November 23, 2013

This Saturday we decided to go to a town about 35 miles away.  It was a great find!

 Typical Italian Centro Streets
It had a fabulous Piazza

They had built an ice skating rink. They had little penguins for the kids to hold onto while learning to skate.

After walking around the piazza we began wandering around town

A couple blocks away was this interesting fountain.

Great place for dogs to get a drink?

Cool court yards

Look at the size of those mushrooms!

There was even an ancient castle

Here are the main doors to the duomo

The water of the Holy Ghost

The cathedral was very impressive

A resting Bishop / Pope?

Horrible picture but here is Peter with the Keys

This is gruesome painting of the beheading of John the Baptist.

This last door is just across the street from the cathedral at the corner of the piazza.  If you read the signs it is a doctor and dentist office.
